Huay Chen-Wu is an Education PhD candidate working with Dr. Jin Sook Lee. Her research interests lie in heritage language learners/speakers, identity, sociolinguistics, and Asian American studies. Her dissertation brings all of these topics together to examine second-generation Taiwanese Americans and how they pass on their heritage language and cultural identity to their third-generation children. Aside from a researcher, Huay is an educator, having previously taught elementary school in New York City, high schoolers as a part of UCSB's SKILLS program, adult conversational English at NYU, and having TAed for Education, Linguistics, and Asian American Studies Department at UCSB.
